What is the best vacation spot on the Texas Coast? We are considering buying a waterfront vacation property along the gulf cost in Texas. We are looking for somewhere with a lot of atmosphere, great restaurants, and lots of things to do (but also somewhere we can totally relax as well), but not really overcrowded. We were looking at the Corpus Cristi area and Galveston Island and would like the opinion of some locals. We are in our late 30s and have 2 young children. We are coming there in late December to check things out for ourselves, but would like some information ahead of time, so that we know where we should focus on when we get there.

Would your husband be ok with you going on an all married women vacation to the Island of Barbados without him? Four of us married wives want to go on vacation for a week and leave our husbands at home. Just some girl time away. We all need that occasionally. Men do it all the time. My husband goes on hunting trips where he is gone up to 5 days at time. However, he is giving me major grief about the Barbados trip and is fighting me not to go. The other 3 wives have the green light from their husbands. I am PISSED. I told him that i will remember that next times that he leaves for these long hunting trips. His reply was that " I do not get hit on by women while deep in the woods". How do I convince him to let me go? This is driving a wedge between us. In the end, I may go anyway. I am not his property and he had better stop treating me this way. ps: we are all in our 40's and kids are mostly grown farmerswife, money is not a problem. I have my own money....i do not need his. Furthermore, that was not MY comparison, that was his.
Renting a weekly vacation rental property in GA. Owner doesn't use a lease- how do I protect myself? I'm considering renting a beach condo in St. Simons Island, GA. I contacted the owner today, and he said he normally doesn't use a lease with his renters because he is not a broker, he just owns the condo as property and rents it out when he isn't using it. I've had bad experiences in the past with rental properties, like being charged thousands of dollars for damages I didn't do. This man doesn't live in St. Simons- he lives in the same state, near Atlanta, and he will not be present at check-in or check-out. He will send me all the information I need in an email once I pay the last half of the rent. How can I protect myself here? I don't want there to be no contract and then he try to stick me with bills, run off with my money, etc, and I have no way to fight it. I've looked at rental lease forms, but none seem to fit this situation. He said he'd be more than happy to sign whatever I ask him to, he just normally doesn't require it with his tenants. Any ideas?
anyone stayed at TREASURE ISLAND in Panama CIty Beach? i need help deciding between staying at Treasure Island, Majestic, Edgewater or Boardwalk for my mini vacation in Panama City Beach. These are all oceanfront properties/condos and they all seem nice. It's only going to be me and my BF. I don't mind being on the quiet side of town... but I think the BF would rather be in the middle, or heart of PCB. Any suggestions or opinions would be greatly appreciated.

How should I pay for an vacation condo rental in Hawaii? My wife and I are looking for a place to stay on the island arriving Saturday, Sep 4 and leaving Friday, Sep 10. There are lots of cottages, condos, small independent rental properties on the island along with hotels and resorts. I'm looking at trip advisor for reviews but i don't know how to pay so that I have some kind of protection. If I just rent a hotel or resort i can cancel and pay the fee or have some travelers insurance but most of these places that are privately owned have large deposits upfront. Even the ones w/ lots of good reviews I'm worried if they want cash. I have some protection for services if i pay w/ my amex. With cash it's buyer beware. Anyone ever rented a condo or rental place for a week? How did you pay? How was your stay? We're going to kauai. Please no stupid responses.
How can I obtain a 1,000,000 USD loan? I would like to take out a loan in order to purchase some commercial property on the Island of Oahu in Hawaii. I would like to use the property as vacation property. A house that a family, or individual can rent during their vacation. I'm not sure what the exact term for such a place is. The most I have at the moment to put down on the loan is 100,000 USD. Is that a reasonable amount to put down on a 1,000,000 USD loan? Also, I would appreciate an educated guess as to how much each payment will be per month with with interest. Also, a rough estimate of the interest rate. I have no established credit, and I am only nineteen years old. I sort of expect a high interest rate, but I needs to be affordable. If you can, please recommend me to a site, organization, or company which could help me achieve the above stated goals. Also, I would greatly appreciate any and all immediate advice provided. Thank you in advance for your help.

Looking to live in laguna vista, port Isabel or south padre island. My budget is 700-1000/month. Thank you. Please email jcr103@yahoo.com. Serious responses only please. I'm not a property owner. Is Chavez filling up empty rooms in homes now? So I know that Chavez was taking property and homes that Venezuelans owned, like multiple homes, vacation homes, etc. (a friend of mine personally purchased a home in Marguerita Island from her father so that they could keep it) but a friend of mine heard about and asked me the other day if he was filling empty rooms in homes with people. Is this true?
Advice on buying a vacation home in Puerto Rico? I would like to take advantage of the buyers market that we're in right now and purchase a condo in Puerto Rico as a vacation home. I visit Puerto Rico frequently and am very familiar with the island. However, I only have $5,000 for a down payment, I've been repairing my credit for the past few years so my score is in the mid 600s and I am looking to get a small one bedroom condo in the Ocean Park/Condado area. Does this sound realistic? Also, if this sounds realistic how would one go about looking at property when they live out of the country? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Grand Cayman vacation: stay at Westin Casuarina or Marriott Beach Resort? I am going on vacation to the Grand Caymans in May, but I am having trouble deciding on where to stay. I am in a wedding for the first three days and staying at the Westin Casuarina with the bridal party. I intended on staying there the next three nights, but I am just apprehensive about the cost. Those island resorts really add on the taxes! It is a FIVE-star hotel though, plus I would earn double points through my credit card b/c they are affiliates. So I looked at other places and the Marriott Resort is a 4-star hotel also on the beach. I could get a package with free breakfast by staying there, but no extra points. If I decide on the Westin, I would qualify for a $75 food/drink voucher. Has anyone stayed at either or both of these resorts and could give their feedback? I'd appreciate any. Thanks! Can I get married on the beach of a vacation rental? My sister is planning on getting married on one of the beaches on the southern coast of NC. She's thinking Bald Head Island, which I think is also close to some other beach towns, but is open to other beach locations. She wants the ceremony to be really simple, just a small ceremony on the beach (we're bringing a couple beach chairs for the grandparents), but no big area or anything like that. We're trying to keep the cost down, so I was thinking we could rent a vacation home that's on the beach and use the area between the house and the beach for the wedding. Is that allowed, or do we need a permit from the city? Does it make a difference if the property is private or not? Also, any suggestions on good beaches around that area? Thanks so much for the help!
Global warming/island? ok this is a stupid question... My grand parents have bought an island in the Bahamas and have developed it so it's livable... We the family spend our vacations there and plan to keep the property for a very long time. But with the global warming issues the sea levels are rising so I was wondering how much time (approximately) is left before the island literally "sinks" into the ocean?? and lol could it be actually possible? please don't judge...

The two Most Popular Countries in the World to Live...Australia Or USA....Where would YOU live??....And WHY? I have seen this very question posted on Yahoo Answers so many times; now I want to put an end to this debate/discussion once and for all! I am an American, born and raised here..lived in both the East Coast and West Coast of USA. I have travelled extensively all over the USA and Australia, too. Many people have said good things and bad things about both countries. Now, I will tell you what I think is really the truth. No B.S. First, the similarities between the USA and Australia: Both countries are about the same size (excluding Alaska, which is extremely cold and very barren). Both offer freedom, democracy, human rights, and both are multi-cultural societies (USA is mostly white, black, latino, and some Asians; while Australia is mostly white, Asian, and 2% Aboriginals). In Australia, you can go to a nice movie theatre and watch the latest American movies, goto the video store and rent American movies and listen to American music on your car stereo. Australia has just about EVERYTHING that USA has: Costco, Target, Lamborgini, BMW, Mercedes, you name it; even Google has an office in Australia. Both USA (NBA) and Australia (NBL) have pro-basketball leagues. In Australia, you have access to american culture without having to be in the USA. But, here are the differences:Australia has a very manageable 22 million people...the USA has over 300 million and growing fast. This is due to Australia's isolation in the southern hemisphere and strict and controlled immigration policy. Australia wants "highly skilled" migrants (they go by a 'points system', and you need 120 points) and those who have at least a working knowledge of the english language....USA will basically take everyone, with skills or not. Having over 300 million people and growing in the USA causes many problems on the whole infrastrature: traffic getting worse, public transit getting crowded, work environment getting more stressful and demanding, more competition for jobs, and more friction between people. I feel USA is just getting too crowded now, and it's projected to get to 400 million people by 2030! Australia's climate is much better. Australia is sunnier, warmer and doesn't get the terrrible weather that USA gets. USA gets freezing temperatures (the midwest can drop to 30 below zero), and snowstorms, a lot of tornadoes, hurricanes, wildfires, and places like California experience earthquakes. They're talking about the "Big One" that has a 99% chance of hitting California within 20 years. About the worst that Australia gets are bushfires, and some flooding in the northern part of the country. Australia has a lot of "exotic" landscapes and thousands of miles of pristine beaches. Australia is an island-continent, and does not have a big problem with illegal immigration. There are anywhere from 8-20 million illegals living in the USA, maybe more, because USA shares a physical border with Mexico. USA has the highest violent crime rate in the developed world; in large part because there are 80-100 million guns in the U.S. and growing, due to the 2nd amendment (the right to 'bear arms') ...in Australia guns are illegal, and so there are very few guns and gun crimes. The USA is a high stress environment....Australia is much more relaxed, and laid-back...and safer. I also think many Americans are arrogant people, and many Australians are friendlier. Australia's Minimum Hourly wage is equivalent to $US 13.00, while in the USA it is less than $8.00/hr. Australia's income tax is 30%, in the USA it's 28%. Property Tax (on housing you pay every year) is thousands of dollars lower in Australia than in the USA! That is a major difference. In USA, most employees get 1-2 weeks vacation to start. In Australia, every full-time employee starts off with 4 weeks vacation, but if you work in the healthcare field or for the government, you start off with 6-8 weeks! And after 15 years, everyone gets what they call 'long service leave'-you get 13 weeks(over 4 months) vacation on top of the 4-8 weeks annual leave you normally get. You get 17-21 weeks vacation after 15 years of employment! In Australia, everyone is covered under free public healthcare, but in the USA, tens of millions don't have health or medical insurance. Aussies can retire at age 60-62, but in America, the retirement age is 65-67. There you have it. I was once a Proud American. Not anymore. I want to hear from Americans, especially from those that have lived in both countries. Tell me why USA is a better place to live than Australia. Come and Defend your country. I'm also interested in hearing from Australians who have lived in both countries, too. I want to hear what Aussies have to say about this topic. Source(s): research and travel experience, and info from my Australian fiance'. I'm planning to move to OZ later this year!

What do you think about this proposition/investment? i currently live in a rental property owned by my father.i pay half of the normal rent.he is actually breaking even and not making a profit cause he is out 600.00 a month.so today he told me a proposition he had for me.i would move back into my parents house and live in there basement(fully finished with a bedroom and a living room) and he would give me 100.00 a week and i wouldnt have to pay any rent.that will help me get my finances in order.then in 6-12 months he would put the down payment on a house for me (60,000..we live in long island ny) and put it in my name with him as the co signer.the house would be a high ranch so i would have one floor and rent out the other floor.so with the other persons rent and my rent it will pay off the mortgage payment for the month.then eventually he will take his name off the house and it will be mine.im almost 29 and i would never be able to afford a house here on my own because the cheapest houses here are a little under 300,000.00 .the only people that live in my parents house is them and i would have privacy.they dont bother me at all and i am very close to them.i guess the only issue is that even though i have privacy my parents (my mom especially) are olf fashion italians off the boat and wouldnt agree with my bf sleeping in the same bed as me(he is in the military and is stationed in a different state).i brought that up to my dad and he said well you lived with your x and you went on vacations with guys so its a little late(for the sex talk lol) i guess i just wanted to know your opinion on this.PLEASE MATURE ANSWERS ONLY!!!!
