Any Island/Tropical getaways for the weekend out of NYC?

I'm from the NYC area and I am looking for a 3-4 day weekend getaway with my GF, not necessarily outside the U.S, but would be nice. Are their any places that are worth it for 3-4 days with nice weather, sand and a beach would be nice too? I'm trying to stay away from Miami, it's like never leaving NJ/NYC when you go down there.

1. Royal Caribbean departs out of New Jersey for cruises. I'd start there. Also, you can take a New England cruise from there too.

3. go to virginia beach, very nice sand, long boardwalk, bars, clubs, very nice atmosphere. nice crowd... , sunset view.... you can also visit busch garden @ virginia beach which is probably 2 hrs from the beach. there is also colonial williamsberg same distance from the beach.

5. If you want semi-tropical islands, the Bahams, the U.S. Virgin Islands, Jamaica, Puerto Rico and the Florida Keys are all good choices. Watch out for hurricane season, though. There are web sites that allow you to see where the main problems are, so if you go during hurricane season (now), you can chose the places less likely to get hit.
