1. From the area, depends on what you want. Montauk Point out of season, is perfect. rates are down, so are crowds. Where I'am from, Great Neck, closes train ride to City. Day time, Steppingstone Park, Merchant Marine Academy. The shopping area, Middle Neck Rd, from the Plaza to the Old Village. Great Shops, eateries, bars. Close to the Airports, Every thing. Would be my choice, interesting place. Have fun, whatever .
2. The Hamptons. Fire Island is nice too, if you can get out there.
