does anyone know how last minute cancellations work with airlines, I mean if I just turn up at airport?

I want to go to manila, Philippines but friends have suggested waiting at the airport for a last minute cancellation, saying would get fare much cheaper.

  1. Absolutely. You're likely to get a honker of a deal if you wait around. As long as you're not in a massive hurry to get there and don;t mind hanging around for a few hours.
  2. Just be careful because many airlines dont operate this way anymore. it depends on the popularity of the route. many airlines overbook anyway so you chances of getting a seat are pretty low. the airline I work for doesn't do this, if fact on our popular routes the price doubles in the last 2 hours before the flight sometimes!!! however it is still worth checking out as this is just one airline. good luck mate
  3. I would not risk it as most airlines now do not do standby tickets and some that do charge a fortune. Schedule airlines bring their prices out 11 months in advance so this is the best time to book if you can. The main airlines are QATAR AIRLINES and MALAYSIAN AIRLINES
