Which Hawaii island do you think is best for 7 days vacation?
Also, do we need to rent a car to get around or they have charter boats from island to island? Thanks a bunch.

- Maui without a doubt..if your looking for a true Hawaiian experience. Check out Kaanapali Beach and Lahaina.
- I personally love Kauai - the garden island. I would definitely recommend a rental car to see the Nepali Coast, Barking Sands, Waimea, and all the other beautiful sights.
- If you want to stay on one island then Maui without a doubt.
- Maui is very nice, but I won't pass on any trip to hawaii if it was offered to me. You could rent a car for a day, but you don't have to rent one for the whole time. You could just rent one if you wanted to see the island for the day? And there are all kinds of Charter boats. Here are some links below to help you out with your planning. http://www.hawaii-vacation-hotels.us http://www.maui-vacation-hotels.us Go to the tour section, and you'll see all kinds of things to do while you're there on vacation.
- It depends on what you want to do. Just relaxing and enjoying nature, I'd go to Kauai. The big island has sort of a country feel. Maui has great snorkeling and Oahu has great boogie boarding and night life. I would personally pick Maui because I love to snorkel and there's so much to see. You can drive the road to Hana and see some beautiful scenery and waterfalls, or drive to the top of Mt. Haleakala. You can snorkel right off of the beaches in the Kaanapali/Lahaina area and see some amazing sea life (including turtles). There is a ferry that goes between islands (I think it's running now), but I wouldn't recommend it, as the ride is hours long and you lose out on valuable fun time. I would say rent a car, pick an island and stick with it. Or you can do what we're doing on our next trip... Norwegian Cruise Lines has a hawaiian cruise where you leave from Honolulu (Oahu), and have stops in Kauai, both Hilo and Kona on the big island, and Kahului in Maui. The Maui stop is an overnighter, so you can set up snorkelling and/or a luau while you're there. Having stayed and eaten on multiple islands in Hawaii, I can say that the price NCL gives you for the cruise is about the same as my family would spend for food and lodging and we don't even go to the fancy places! The food onboard NCL is really good... I can vouch for that, and my aunt has done the Hawaii cruise and can't wait to go back. Have a great time!
- Maui because it has more diversity than the other islands. It is also the right size, not to big to get around, but big enough to have everything. Rent a car because you will want to see the island, since it is your first time. Maui has sunny, sandy beaches, great for snorkeling, swimming and surfing. It has the rainforest. It has a volcanic crater you can bike down or watch a beautiful sunrise. It also has a lot of night life, in Lahaina or some in Kaanapali. There are also quaint towns like Makawao or Paia that are nice to check out. There are tons of activities, seasonal whale watching, kayaking, dinner magic shows, sunset dinner cruises, snorkel trips to molokini islet, etc. Maui is also known as 'No Ka Oi" which means 'the best' and for good reason.
- You are definitely not the first one to ask that question. Which Hawaiian island to spend the 7-day vacation on, totally depends on what you are looking for. If you just want to relax on a white sand beach and not even have to rent a car, book a Waikiki ocean front hotel. If you want to hang out on a beach but see a little bit of Hawaii, rent a place on Maui or Kauai (can be rainy). You have to rent a car. If you want to have beach + adventure beyond the ordinary, choose the Big Island. The Big Island is the Hawaiian island of superlatives! It's active volcano Kilauea attracts thousands of people from around the world to Hawaii Volcanoes National Park. Where else on earth can you still hot lava flowing into the ocean? Tropical rainforest on the East side of Hawaii Big Island, beaches of many colors, snow-capped mountains of Mauna Kea and Mauna Loa, spectacular waterfalls in hidden valleys like Waipio Valley on the Hamakua Coast and Pololu Valley. Visiting the Big Island is not just a regular beach vacation. A world of adventure, discovery and fun await you!!! When you have once been to the Big island, you will come back! In love with Hawaii and the Big Island, aloha Pua
- None. I'm from Maui and ready to move back home after 8 years in the military. I'm in Maui right now and it's pretty sad how over populated and over developed Maui has become. Maui isn't the same Maui when I was a kid. I honestly don't mind that you visit for a couple days, just as long as you go back to the mainland and don't move back here. "Welcome to Maui .......and now go home" that's the locals slogan. We don't mean to be jerks we just want our home back.
