What is the best Hawaiian island for a young couple to vacation?

My fiancee and I are looking at Hawaii for our honeymoon. Where would be the best place to spend a week?

  1. Maui... I went on a cruise that allowed me to visit 5 islands and Maui was by far my favorite.
  2. Oahu was the best for us...my husband didn't want to island hop and there was so much to do just on that one island. we went to diamond head and that was just absolutely beautiful. we rented a car and drove up to the north shore and you wouldn't believe the scenery. i think it's the prettiest island out there.
  3. I'd say Maui. It has it all, beautiful beaches, shopping, romance, and lots to do. Now my favorite is Kauai because it is a lot more quieter and laid back, but a young couple might get bored. The shopping is Ok and the scenery is very tropical, but you can drive around most of the island in 1 day(You can't drive all the way around as the Napali coast does not have roads, just hiking trails). So this is why I would pick Maui. Oahau is too much like any city, but with great weather.
  4. I lived on Oahu for three years. If you are looking for nightlife, I'd recommend Maui or Oahu. Kuaui is very green and beautiful, but there isn't much to do. I loved the big island, but there isn't much in the line of nightlife. I'd say Oahu is your best bet. Great for nightlife, beaches, history (pearl harbor) water activities (snorkeling, jet skiing, shark cage diving) hiking AND shopping!!( Ala moana center).
  5. maui it is beautiful and romantic
  6. My husband and I love the Big Island. It's especially good if you guys are outdoorsy people. This place has some of the best hikes I've been on. While there, we went on a hike over lava rock, a hike through a bamboo forest, hike down a coastal cliff. This island has so many different regions...you can start off the day on the sunny, dry and windy Kona side of the island, drive for a couple hours and see real rain-foresty, tropical forests on the Hilo side, drive up the central mountains and see snow. The beaches aren't the best, because since it's the newest of the islands, the beaches are still really rocky with (if there's *any* sand) coarse sand. But there are some black sand beaches, green sand, and white sand beaches also. If you want a more urban setting with nightlife and large shopping centers, and lounging on the beach all day, the Big Island probably won't do it for you. But we've fallen in love with it and have fun every time we go there! Have a fun trip and congratulations on your upcoming nuptials!
  7. I like Maui. Less crowded. Great sights to see, terrific beaches, great shopping.
  8. I think Maui might be the place to go for a honeymoon. I think thats where I would go to. I live in Oahu, this place would be good too but Waikiki is touristy, though there are many things to do. Maui seems more romantic for you both and is beautiful. I would pick Maui, Oahu wouldn't be a bad choice either but Maui is more ideal to me at least.
