What is the best budget vacation for a mom and her 3 year old near Long Island, NY?

I am looking to go on a vacation this summer with my 3 year old. I would like somewhere that has childcare so I could get some free time for a few hours a day & where I will feel comfortable being just mom and child. My husband has terminal cancer so I don't know what will happen next -- and I cannot go too far from him. Thanks.
