Just wondering if anyone has as little patience as I do with that. And if you have any interesting stories of your experiences, let me know! For me, it was about two hours. At the pool the first full day there, I was covering up the rock speakers around us with large, damp towels. By the third day I was quietly imagining some pretty horrible things to do to the beach band members. And having breakfast to some chick on their music system singing Caribbean style Beatles songs was just over-the-top nuts. Then one night was "Back to the 80's", a music era that pretty much stunk at the time and stinks even worse now. Gloria Gaynor? Bee Gees? Pull-ease!!! THANK GOD FOR iPODS!!! Wow. I guess it's only me, huh? Well, I wasn't drunk - can't seem to do that too much anymore (I stuck with mimosas - I am done with the days of rum and tequila, gin and vodka, spent too much time doin' that when I was younger and prayed a lot in the bathroom at college - ha ha). I also think that same beat, over and over, for 7 days was just a bit too much (correction: WAY too much). Can all of you really take it playing 8 hours straight, every day for 7 days, without craving good old rock and roll? God bless you for being able to handle it ! If not for my iPod, I surely would have buried my head in the sand!! I like the Bee Gees too, but I graduated high school in 1975 - when the motto was "Disco Sucks". By the time Saturday Night Fever came out, I was already sick of disco. Similar to the music of the Dominican Republic, it has the same beat throughout the whole song, every song, over and over and over, without much variation in tone or rhythm at all. Oh and there was actually very little steel drum - not like Hawaiian music at all, not really reggae (which I could have probably gotten into), but sort of Latin/Caribbean. They even played some jazz (very little), but even that had a Latin/Caribbean flavor. And to put Lennon/McCartney to that style was blasphemous, IMO. Oh PunchDrunk, you're the only one who understands me. If only I were younger . . . The music and nightlife did suck pretty badly but the sun, sand, ocean, pool and bali beds were awsome, and the food and people were wonderful. Hubby got violently ill our last day there so it was mom-daughter day at the pool (each with our own iPods) and night at the sushi bar, and we made our own fun. I do miss that warm sunny weather so much, though. Thanks for your sweet comments earlier, I just may take you up on your invitation to rant via email - and of course you are welcome to do the same!
