How much money should I take on my vacation?

My boyfriend and I are going to Treasure Island, FL for a long week. We'll get there Friday morning and will leave Monday morning. We're planning on eating in our hotel room (it has a kitchenette) for breakfast and lunch, then going out for dinner and drinks each night. We don't plan to do any attractions or anything, just lay around the beach and pool and relax. About how much will groceries, dinners out, and drinks cost us for the weekend?

  1. first of all.........this sounds so lovely, just to be with the one you love and do nothing but chill out......good for you I'd take a few hundred, just in case..... have fun....
  2. $300 maximum. $200 for food and drinks. Plus $100 for souvenirs.
  3. the same as they cost you at home. if you're going to up scale restaurants expect you spend several hundred dollars each night. and you never know what could possibly come up while you're down there. so basically give yourself a rough estimate and then multiply it by 1.5 and anything you don't spend, you didn't lose it. no loss. i'm not talking cash either. set aside the money in the bank. it's dumb to bring large sums of cash with you on vacation. my recommendation would be to take 400 dollars cash, and set aside an extra 600 in the bank for the unforeseen.
  4. Try to make a budget for daily spending: day and evening. The total money you should take with you is one day's budget X number of day. If you have money left over from one day you might add it to the next day's budget or save it for a special treat for you and your mate. This works real good even if you have a large family.
  5. I would take $500 just in case. you never know what could happen, always be on the safe side.
