What is the best way to book a last minute vacation via the Internet?

I'm confused. I actually booked a trip through US Airways which includes flight+hotel. Curiously, I searched Orbitz,Travelocity and Priceline. All were 250+ more then what I paid and all are non-direct flights--one was $400 more. When booking a last minute trip is it best to: check out the airline for "specials", or are their other sites that I just do not know about?

2. You could try to go through the website I will give you a link to. The website listed below affiliates with an online travel company which gives you alot of deals and specials. It goes into great detail on the page and gives you links to check on. I've looked at the travel site mentioned and it is fully loaded and has lots of detail. Competitive prices too.
