My family is going on an island vacation, we are thinking of going to the Maya Rivera, what do you think?

We are going on an island vacation for 1 whole week. The Maya Rivera looks nice, but would the whole family of 4 be occupied for a week. There are two children, and two adults, do you recommend this island, and if you do, what are some fun things to do inside the resort?

  1. Click the link below to read reviews and compare prices on 39 Isla Mujeres (just north of Cancun) hotels. Then click the link on the left that says "Thins to do" to read about 18 things you can do in that area. The term "Riveria Maya" is a generic term to include all the tourist areas from Cancun to Tulum--see the map in the second link. Isla Mujeres is the little island just above the "C" in Cancun on the map. Cozumel is a bigger island just off the coast of Playa del Carmen and it has more things to do,
  2. I stayed in the Mayan Riviera last year and loved it. I'm assuming that you are looking for a family friendly resort, and you'll find just that here, as opposed to nearby Cancun. The Mayan Riviera is a great location for families as it is a little more relaxed than Cancun and most of the hotels are better spread out, etc. Of course, nothing is guaranteed, but its less typical here to see the foolish/over the top partying that Cancun is accustomed to. I think there is enough to keep you occupied. There is lots nearby in Playa del Carmen and surrounding areas and if you feel the urge to travel to Cancun or other areas they aren't that far away. Additionally, most resorts have activities/day centers for the children. For what its worth, we loved our resort and I wrote a review on it at our new travel website. The address is http://www.thecanadiantraveler.ca and the link to my review is in the sources. Enjoy your trip.
