  1. i live in orlando so i go all the time id advise to go to the parks early and then leave for lunch and come back late afternoon it makes it so you beat crowds and miss the hottest part of the day also, remember to get fast passes to the major rides early, they sell out!
  2. My best tip is to get there when the parks open. Also take advantage of Fastpass and extra magic hours. The fireworks are wonderful and defintly not to be missed. Also try and ride up front on the monorail, that is a really cool free perk. You just have to ask the CM(Cast Member) working the monorail.
  3. I was interested in the belly dancing at Morocco, but we went after a show just ended. If that sounds appealing, find out the times. The Lion King show in Animal Kingdom is Amazing!! I was told Downtown Disney is cheaper than buying stuff in a Park, but that wasn't true for some items... A $9.00 glass was $8.50 in Animal Kingdom. It's only $.50, but I bought four... If you stay in a Disney Hotel and shop at a store, the store will deliver your stuff to the hotel the next afternoon. So, go splurge 2 days before you check out. The Animal Kingdom Lodge had me pick up my stuff at the gift shop on the first floor.
  4. Advice: Since you are staying on Disney Property, make sure to check with the front desk (or pick up one of the little fliers) and see which park is opening early or closing late for Disney Resort guests. My hubby and I made it a point to go early so that we could get a few of the big attractions done and out of the way. There is nothing worse than standing in line waiting...the Fast Pass helps, but I'd rather not wait at all! Have all of your souvenirs delivered to the resort gift shop. This will allow you to keep your hands free during to day so that you aren't wondering what you'll do with your bags when you get on a ride. The packages won't show up until the following day, but unless it's your last day in the park, it's ok. On your last day, ask to have your purchases sent to the front of the park instead so that you can pick them up on your way to the shuttle. HAVE FUN!
  5. Make sure you get a FastPass for the rides you really want to do. You can only have on at a time, but they do run out. They are free, and the FastPass machine is usually a little ways away from the ride's line. Take lots of pictures. They will help you remember your visit and are much cheaper than buying lots of souveniers that you don't have a use for... like a Mickey Mouse pencil topper... I mean really. You can live without that, right? If you want to bring souveniers back for friends/neighbors/classmates consider packs of suckers. You can normally find a pack with 5+ suckers in the shape of Mickey's head. So you can bring some Disney home and it's way cheaper than hats or t-shirts. Since you are staying on site you get to use the Extra Magic Hours. That is when the parks are open longer during the day only to guests staying at Disney hotels and a few others. If you have a park hopper ticket spend the day at a different park and then hop to the EMH park for the Extra Magic Hours. The reasoning is that people with base tickets only tend to head to the park with the longest hours, which makes that park more crowded than the others. On-site guests get free Disney transportation to the Disney parks, but in the event you were planning to drive, you will park for free. My advice is to park early and if you need to go back to the resort during the day take Disney transportation, that way at parks closing your personal vehicle will be closer to the gates. Make sure you get to the parks early to beat the crowds. It will be hot, steamy, crowded and likely have daily rain/thunderstorms. Dress cool, but make sure to wear gym shoes... they're better on your feet and legs. Bring Tylenol or something to combat aches and headaches. And, buy a poncho from Target (99c there), Wal-Mart wherever and carry it in with you. It doesn't rain long, but it's often a downpour for a little while. Disney's ponchos are like $5-$10 which adds up. Take time to relax. It is Disney which means there is a lot to do there, but it is still a vacation. Try and plan at least a day or two to just lounge around the pools, head to Downtown Disney (great in the evenings and does not waste a park admission day). Hope this helps and it wasn't too much. Have FUN!!
  6. your going during a very HOT and crowded time. Make sure you set time aside for pool breaks and naps! You'll need them! ALL AGES NEED THEM! As mentioned before take advantage of fast passes. Dress for hot weather, but comfortable, WEAR SUN SCREEN! even if it is cloudy, if you get sun burned you will be MISERABLE! ( I am speaking from years of experince here!) SUNGLASSES and hat's really help with the sun and keeping it out of your eyes and off your face and head. Plan for rain, usually in the afternoon or monring, not all day but at least an hour! THEN HUMIDITY! ick! Make dining plans a head of time, you will need reservations for the fancy sit down resturants if you want to get in at all or at a decent time. Pack a small bag to cary with you with the things you will need every day: Camera, wallet/ID/room keys/park pass ect. sun screen, chapstick, advil, bandaids, poncho...and anything else you may want with you. I would suggest seeing all fire work shows and parades at least ones if that sort of thing intersts you and your group. If you don't want to wait in line and don't have a fast pass, check and see if they offer a signle rider line, you may not get to ride with your group but you 'll get through the line faster! Wear comfortable shoes, the last thing you want is sore feet, you'll be doing a ton of walking so be prepared. Um there is so much more I could tell you, but Im drawing a blank right now (and Im at work SHH!) If you want to email me feel free! I've been going to Disney now for the past 16 years!
  7. go to the website www.allears.net for disney world get the book the passporter
  8. I've been to Disney lots of times. But I'm a little younger than your party group. Expedtion Everest (animal kingdom) is my fav. ride. It goes backwards, its fast, and it has a few drops. I also like Space Mountain (magic kingdom). Really, I love all the rides in each park. except Mission Space (epcot). the park names are in parenthesis.

  10. When you want to go on a family gathering to eat dinner, or just to relax, shop around, and have fun, DEFINATELY go to downtown disney! I prefer going at night, the experience is much better then. Try the Planet Hollywood restaurant! The atmosphere is absolutely fun and amazing for all ages! There are also a few discount shops, a really cool mcdonalds =], and a big DISNEY store filled with all the originals of disney! When going to Hollywood Studios, I highly reccomend the Tower Of terror, if you are into thriller Rides! At Animal Kingdom, they have a really cool Safari you can go on, and it is an absolutely amazing experience! At Epcot you should definately go visit the world showcases. They show different countries that display their culture with gift shops, restaurants, etc. At Magic Kingdom, you should definately stick around to see one of their parades!! its beautiful!! P.S. If you are taking a plane, you should use disney transportation to and from the orlando airport. They bring your luggage right to your hotel room upon arrival and take them to the airport upon departure.
  11. Since you aren't going until July, you have plenty of time to plan, and planning is the key to having a great vacation. Here's the best tip anyone can give you: Go buy "The Unofficial Guide to Walt Disney World 2009". This was the best $20 I spent for my family's July 2008 vacation to Disney. The book contains reviews for restaurants, hotels, and attractions on and off Disney property. However, the best part of the book are the touring plans! The plans give you step by step instructions on where to go and when to go in order to avoid the longest lines. For example: "Soarin" in EPCOT is one of the most popular rides in all of Disney. A 2-hour wait in line is not uncommon to partake in this awesome experience. However, using the touring plan in the book and maximizing Disney's "Fast Pass" system, we were able to ride it twice in a row without waiting in line one time! By the way, if you don't know what the "Fast Pass" system is, then definitely get the book or ask us that are in the know at yahooanswers. It's fast, easy, and one of the few FREE things in Disney. Yes, it is absolutely FREE! Go out and buy the book today. I promise you will not be disappointed. Have fun!
  12. best advice is, get to the parks early as you can. decide on which rides you really want to do and get them done first. take a day to do each park. what you will find is that it can get very warm and you may find it a good idea to leave the park in the middle of the day and have some lunch and then go back in the evening for the night time shows. there is so much to do that it is best to decide beforehand what you want to do. if you go onto disneyworld.com you can find maps and lists of rides and places to eat in the parks. tips: Magic Kingdom - for a snack go to caseys corner for their awesome chili dogs. make sure you ride all the mountains... splash, big thunder and space. Hollywood Studios - get your ass round to rock n rollercoaster and try the tower of terror, and just beside both these rides you can get a great turkey leg. Epcot - go soarin' its awesome and check out test track its wicked. Animal Kingdom - Expedition everest is a must. and eat at the rainforest cafe also go on primevil whirl. there is also a great finding nemo show. Universal Studios, go on ride the mummy because 'Death is only the beginning' and if you like terminator go and watch the show, its soooo well done. Islands of Adventure, some great rollercoasters like duelling dragons and the hulk. seaworld, check out the shamu show and go see the dolphins, if you get to the park at the rifht time in the morning you will be able to buy fish for $3 to feed the dolphins, its great. i hope you all have a wonderful time. you will all absolutely have a ball.
