how is Newport, Rhode Island for vacation/summer jobs?

I and my friend want to go to Newport, Rhode island for couple months (july and august) for a summer job/vacation. Why Newport? Because ive been there twice and im in love with this place. So, does anybody know 1. How possible is it to find a job (stores, hotels, restaurants, babysitter(?) etc 2. What is the cost of living there? 3. Is it easy to find something cheap to rent (1 room would be enough) Thank you guys so much for your help in advance

1. in the summer there are plenty of jobs available. i live in rhode island and have been looking at craigslist weekly and most of the retail and restaurant jobs are in newport or jamestown. Unfortunately the cost of living there is VERY high...probably the highest in the state. this is because it is tourist central in the summer and people can rent their homes out for as much as $3,000 a week. This could be a problem for you. You may want to look at sharing an apartment with others, but this will still be high (around $600-$1000 per room per month). good luck!
