The Caribbean per day or 1 week.?

Would you rather take a Caribbean Cruise to multiple islands for less than a day or Fly to a 4-5 star resort somewhere in the Caribbean for a week? Basically, me and wife want to go to the Caribbean but want to relax and have fun. Do I want to be on a ship chilling or in the atmosphere chilling? ie. Puerto Rico, Bahama, Aruba type stuff. No, not being on a cruise for a day. We will be on a cruise for a week but we only stay at the ports for less than a day.

  1. cruise for less that a day? no way. I went on a cruise for a week, best experience of my life. So good, we did it again to alaska. Best second experience of my life.
  2. My husband and I have done both. Prior to cruising we spent time on several different islands in the Caribbean. This is what I recommend for you. The difference is we didn't stay in 4-5 star resorts which I guess is nice if you want to spend the money (and be with other tourists) We prefer staying on some remote islands with nice accomodations and living among the people there. Saba, Nevis, Antigua, St. Maarteen (French side). VRBO.com is a great source for excellent short term rentals. Good luck and enjoy. The water is clear and BLUE, the people and weather are warm and beautiful. Additionally, think about how much time you'll actually be in your room and book your accomodations accordingly. The money you save on accomodations can be spent on fabulous meals (not unlike a cruise ship's) at the fine restaurants and fancy drinks with umbrellas!
  3. Cruise, hands down. But you'll need to do some research first. Your library or bookstore has books about cruising and about Caribbean ports of call.
  4. I say just pick an island and stay put. It's so much more relaxing. We've done this on two islands already (PR and Aruba) and it was so nice. You can do stuff at your leisure when you stay on an island, unlike on a cruise when you have to rush through your shore excursions to make it back on time.
