- corfu! very nice. or amalfi!
- KEFALONIA has many wonderful beaches, and lots and lots of mountains. http://www.thegreektravel.com/kefalonia/index.html http://kefalonia.co.uk/
- Just to clear it up, Amalfi isn't a Greek island. It's actually part of the coast of Italy. I would go to Santorini. It has really nice beache, there's a white and red one. There's the ability to sail on a catamaran and visit the hot springs. It's really amazing. There are two main towns: Fira and Oia. Fira is the most touristic and popular because there are the majority of the shops and restaurants there. Oia is a little quieter but is often used as the backdrop for many movies because it's so beautiful. They're both accessible from one another by bus. They're only like 20 minutes from one another.
- Naxos has both nice beaches and mountains. But if you go there, make sure to meet with the people from the naxos animal welfare society (naws) and perhaps rescue a dog, there is a lot of animal abuse on naxos.
- Why not go to Dodecanese, to a safe and quiet place like Kasos or Karpathos (nice beaches and mountains)? Very cheap, safe and traditional. (Go by plane, the boat trip takes too long)
- Santorini! > http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3063/2827790833_9506a2741d.jpg or Skopelos, the island of the musical Mamma Mia! Very clean beaches, amazing people and lots of greenery ---- dr.frankie's choice is also great, actually Ikaria is my favourite island (the island of Icarus), but I never suggest tourists to go there as it is not touristy at all and the island doesn't have so many hotels, but if you love tranquillity and great people, well Ikaria is one of the best places in the world.
- Crete is my favorite island.
- Ikaria http://www.fotinospension.gr/photos/ikaria03.jpg
- Lesvos- has nice beachers + mountains
- Crete is the largest island in Greece, so it has the most variety. Typical tourist resorts on the north coast, smaller seaside towns on the south. We have very high mountains (the tallest is higher than Snowdon on top of Ben Nevis) with 30 gorges, including the longest in Europe (Samaria). Lots of unspoilt and un-touristy mountain villages to explore, populated by some of the friendliest people you could wish to meet. Major Minoan remains at Knossos and Phaestos, but there is Minoan archaeology everywhere on Crete, much of it unknown to the tourists (ask the locals). July and August are hot and the north coast is very windy. At other times in the season we have temperatures in the mid-to-high 20's C and almost no rain (February is the wet month).
- my favorite is Rhodes. I love the beaches there and its a place to go if you like to learn a lot of history about places.
