Nassau Island vs. Paradise Island (Bahamas)?

I cant decide where to take a vacation Nassau or Paradise Island. Which one has more shopping(not like outdoor markets but real stores) and a longer beach for walking? which one has more activities. (I don't really like historical activities though)

1. Paradise Island and Nassau are both cities on the island of New Providence. If you were to make hotel arrangements on Paradise Island you can take a 10 or less minutes taxi drive over the bridge to Nassau. The shopping centre of New Providence is Bay Street which is located Down Town Nassau, there you can find name brand stores as well as the World Famous Straw Market. There are also restaurants and chain restaurants that you may be familiar with such as burger king and McDonald's and lots of jewelry stores, clothing etc.
