Why is the last minute of a basketball game the longest minute?

During the fourth quarter of a basketball game, the last minute (1:00) of the game is the longest minute of the game. There are more time outs and fouls in the last minute of the game that there are in the during the first three quarters of the game. Is there a reason to why the last minute of the game takes longer than one minute to complete?

  1. timeouts, intentional fouls, dead balls, and free throws are all apart of your last minute strategy so you'll see a lot of those..........in the last minute.
  2. Well most NBA games are usually close games so teams want to close the gap or make a final strecth for the win. If a team is beating another team in a blowout, the final minute will usually go faster.
  3. Why do so many people ask questions they already know the answer to?
