Who was the radical republican who at the last minute changed his vote to impeach president johnson?

This radical republican's vote was the difference between 2/3 to impeach president johnson and to not and at the last minute he changed to have him not impeached. He is said to have done this to save the country.

2. I can only assume you are talking about Andrew Johnson and if my foggy memory serves me correctly there were 6 or 7 reps. that played a roll in the final vote!
