how long before should you book a last minute holiday?

I am planning on booking a last minute holiday abroad for the monday 6th of september for my boyfriend and I (we live in England). I was wondering how long before you should book, and what day is best? I don't know whether to book about a week before, or just the friday before. Although we want a cheapish deal, we don't want to wait too long and end up with a not much choice and a rubbish holiday. Also any recommendations of where we should go? Thank you.

  1. I thought you only booked last minute holidays if it was an impulse decision... Seeing as you know a date it would probably be best to book as soon as possible as you can get more choice on accommodation and flights are cheaper when booked in advance.
  2. It's not a last-minute holiday when you have hundreds of minutes to wait until it comes. You should not wait to book until the last minute, ESPECIALLY when you know what day you want to fly already. Booking earlier will save you more money, as well as booking online and taking a weekday flight rather than a weekend flight. Not only will you save money when you're booking earlier, but you'll also get a better choice in seating as well as departure and arrival times. If you don't think it's true, then go to an airline's website and check a booking for a flight leaving in two weeks' time, and then the day before the flight is to leave check back and compare the price. You're probably going to see a hike, and it won't be just because it's summer.
