Public Comments

  1. Rikers island has a jail with the most violent offenders in the world in it. Think again....
  2. There are a lot of things for kids to do, most of them are felons.
  3. I loved it when I was there! The weight room is awesome, I didn't have to pay for any meals, and just between you and me, I got laid every single night!!! Man, I miss that place. Nothing for kids to do there, though; it's strictly 18 and up. Well, I guess the visiting room counts. Sometimes kids like to pound on the glass partition while they say, "Daddy, when are you coming home????"
  4. Rikers Island is a Correctional Facility and not a vacation spot. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=wUX9JKVtGog Also, you can only visit if you know someone there. Try visiting Long or Staten Island instead.
  5. Is this some kind of joke? Rikers Island is a prison.
  6. It's such a wonderful place, that I'd recommend sending Federal Politicians there for vacations lasting at least seven years at a stretch (preferably longer, much longer)
  7. As you could tell, Rikers is not a place to take a young family It's on TV a lot on the Law and Order Series Do you mean Long Island or Coney Island?
  8. Sorry, Rikers Island, part of Bronx, not connect to Bronx is not for vacation island. It's one of secure prison where there are lots of wanted criminals or fugitive as you seen from COPS, American's Most Wanted, Law & Order, etc. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5fuKYqvQ5D0&feature=PlayList&p=450174C2925D4292&playnext=1&index=8 Recommended Vacation Sites Urban Park Ranger offers various events including Family Camping.
  9. You're kidding me, right? Rikers does NOT have a nice ring to it, in fact, the only sound that name brings up is the slamming of a prison cell door.
  10. Not sure where you're getting your information from, but Riker's Island is not a tourist destination. Riker's Island is technically part of the Borough of the Bronx, but it's physically connected to the Borough of Queens. Riker's Island contains the NYC Department of Correctional Facility, that is the only inhabitants of the island. It's not a tourist destination at all.
  11. Ossining is even better! The shopping is great and I bought this really cool new chair: http://www.google.com/imgres?imgurl=http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/thumb/e/ef/Electric_Chair_at_Sing_Sing-noborder.jpg/777px-Electric_Chair_at_Sing_Sing-noborder.jpg&imgrefurl=http://tomclarkblog.blogspot.com/2009_09_01_archive.html&usg=__IGNaqJhBtYtbey_v5-FAMC9V1Ns=&h=600&w=777&sz=75&hl=en&start=0&tbnid=Qk5PZ4XOjXgEnM:&tbnh=113&tbnw=149&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dossining,%2Bny%2Bprison%26um%3D1%26hl%3Den%26client%3Dfirefox-a%26sa%3DN%26rls%3Dorg.mozilla:en-US:official%26biw%3D1280%26bih%3D602%26tbs%3Disch:1&um=1&itbs=1&iact=hc&vpx=286&vpy=294&dur=303&hovh=197&hovw=256&tx=138&ty=96&ei=YJJNTMGLKIKBlAfhpMj2DQ&page=1&ndsp=21&ved=1t:429,r:8,s:0
