Amelia island, Ponte Vedra, Myrtle Bch, Jacksonville, St. Augustine or somewhere else?

I'm a 36-yr old white female who enjoys sunbathing, 5-star service at an *Adult Only* type of resort where the pina coladas are flowing. My husband is a 45-yr old who LOVES to eat a variety of high-quality foods. We would like to take a road trip from Nashville, TN to a *tropical* climate w/o having to drive too far. Last yr, we did Destin. This year, we were looking at Tripadvisor and Yahoo, which seem to point to the cities listed in my subject question. Has anyone ever been to any of these places? If so, which hotels would you recommend for us? We are open to other bch cities. We heard Clearwater is breathtaking and Treasure Island is a tropical champagne paradise that would fit our beer budget but we don't wanna drive that far. We were hoping to make reservations for Mid-May or 1st of June (or should we just drive and take our chances on finding a Oceanview accommodation with a *private* balcony, jacuzzi and wet-bar along the way)?

  1. You have chosen cities that all have great things about them. However, from your description, I would have to go with St. Augustine. I got married there last year and it is a beautiful place. There are many beautiful and luxurious bed and breakfasts there, many are even 'haunted'. Their beach is outstanding and there are lots of beautiful resorts right on the water. You also get the benefit of exploring this old city and all that it has to offer. The food there is amazing, Columbia House, is one of my favorites, as is The Conch House Marina. The St. Augustine Beach Resort is a place you may want to check into before you go. They will send you a great information packet from St. Augustine, just search the city name and fill in the request form. Have fun no matter where you choose to go!
  2. I agree, St Augustine.
