Hawaiian Vacation: How much money should I expect to spend?

I'm thinking about going to hawaii with my girlfriend... if we buy tickets early, they will be about $250 each. We could stay for a week in a condo that a friend has a timeshare with for another $250 each. So now we are up to $500 each... and the question I am trying to find out is: About how much should I expect to spend on food and other touristy stuff? We don't plan on going on any "tours"... mainly just enjoying the beaches and what not. But yeah, if you have recently been to hawaii on vacation... can you tell me how long you stayed and how much money you spent while there (and what it was on if you can remember). Thanks! P.s. The condo is located on "Big Island, Kailua-Kona"

  1. the big island is more expensive. But also the food is really expensive. Most normal sandwiches cost about 6-8 $$. The trip is beautiful, but everything there is more expensive..... If possible go on a whale watch, or learn to surf. Jan-Feb is a really good whale time because they're going to Hawaii to have their baby's in warm water.
  2. You may try looking at this article before you go. It really saved me a lot of money on a recent trip I took. http://budgettravel.suite101.com/article.cfm/vacationing_on_a_small_budget
