Why do I always to wait till the last minute to everything done?

I have on ton of things on my plate that have a deadline and I always wait till the very last minute to get everything done. What can I do to stop that?

  1. Maybe you like the challenge of time pressure or just work well under stress? Everyone procrastinates, but yeah it is unhealthy. Get a calendar and plan out assignments, deadlines, etc. Also try to cut back on silly websites or tv shows or other distractors. Good luck!
  2. its called the lazy factor... dont worry i have it too..... but last minute never works.... for starters... fix a personal dead line which is ahead of the real dead line and say " im gonna finish this by this time " or so... it really helps
  3. First thing you need to do is to improve your self-discipline. It will be much harder for you to finish your deadline on the last minute coz even if you tried your best, you can't avoid to commit a mistake coz your running out of time. It's hard to change a habit like that specially if you have doing the same thing all of your life...But it's better to change for the better. When you are given an assignment or job that you need to finish, start as soon as possible so that you will still have time to double-check it. Good luck!
  4. Why? What do you get out of it? What result do you hope for from acting as you do? Maybe you don't WANT to stop it! Maybe you're getting too much out of it to stop! Choose as you wish, but don't pretend that your procrastinating is imposed on you from outside. It is your choice to behave as you do, for whatever reasons you have. Be honest with yourself, then choose a path.
  5. procrastinate procastinating! i had the same problem, what i found that helps is to write a list of all the things you have to do...if you get it on paper it might help to get it done...the act of crossing it out once you've completed the task...sometimes it might seem like pressure does help to get things done, but you'd feel a lot less stressed without the added pressure. good luck
  6. I do the exact same thing. I recommend writting out the important things so you'll remember how important they are. Or better yet, get a planner. Schedule when to do tings and when to take breaks.
  7. maybe you don't like what you're doing. if you don't, you wouldnt have the motivation to really 'get to work on it'; therefore, it's just gonna pile up.
  8. There are at least 6 different types of procrastinators. You can't figure out why you are doing it or how to stop until you figure out your type of procrastination. Perfectionists are some of the worst procrastinators ever--it's because if they can't do it perfect they won't do it at all--and they always think they will get around to it when they "have the time", but there is never enough time to do something in an excruciatingly perfect way. So that type of procrastinator needs to stop being a perfectionist. Does that make sense? Figure yourself out first.
  9. I am the exact way. It does get done though! I try to remember what I DID get accomplished on each day, and to be proud of that. I do not harp on what I did not accomplish that day. Step by step, inch by inch!
